| In this image I wanted to create a world that was outwardly familiar, but with juxtaposed nonsense elements. The proprotional distortion in the figure recalls the Hunting of the Snark illustrations created by Henry Holiday as does the strand scene. Other elements came from Andreyev's lyrics or my imagination. The negative shape created by the position of the fingers represents a brachiopod. The form is echoed in a brachiopod tree on the back of the CD (not shown). It is a reference to the Devonian widderbeds in Southwestern Ontario, where I lived. |
