Richard A. Kirk is a visual artist, illustrator, and author based in Canada. He actively shows in Canada, USA and Europe, and has works in many private collections throughout the world.
Richard has illustrated works by Clive Barker, Caitlin R. Kiernan, Christopher Golden, China Mieville, and others. Richard also created the artwork for the eighth CD by the rock band Korn.
Richard was born in Hull, Yorkshire in 1962. He moved to Canada with his family in 1968, settling in Southwestern Ontario. Richard was always interested in drawing and through the years has found inspiration in nature, literature, surrealist and symbolists artists, and illustrators of the 19th and 20th century.
Richard's work is composed of images that explore the liminal space between imagination and reality. His drawings create a space where protean forms challenge conventional aesthetic ideas. Richard is interested in the forms found in nature, the morphology of plants and animals, and the effect of time on materials. He works in a number of mediums including: pen and ink, silverpoint, watercolor, and oil. He also works with found materials.
