Tales of Pain and Wonder was the first book that I illustrated for Caitlin. It came out of a chance meeting at Horror Con in Atlanta in the late 90's. Caitlin's stories were dark and dense. I responded by making the illustrations rich with detail and complex compositionally. I wanted the illustrations to function as pieces of art within the book. Although at first glance, the relationship of some of the pieces to the stories may seem somewhat eliptical, to me they are crystalized with the text. 10 years on I still love the art I did for Tales.
