| My approach to this image was to pick up on a theme of voice in the story. I interpreted the voice as a type of wind-up theatre (technique) with a powerful sensuality that can shape and manipulate emotion. I wanted simple forms and contrasts in the image; a square against a distorted organic body, but a visual contrast that is undermined by the slashes (representing a crime in the story). There is also a relationship/contrast between the bird song and human vocalization. |
